Handy Smart Wallet EKSTER Secures Belongings & Recharges Mobile Battery
Kickstarter has announced launching Ekster, an ultra thin Smart Wallet, developed by a team of Rotterdam based designers, that protects against any wireless skimming or identity theft. The miniaturized Ekster wallet, handcrafted over genuine calf leather for a luxurious outlook and feeling, ensures durability and style as well. Every component of the product has been outsourced by specialists from related industry in the Netherlands.
With only 0.35 inches thickness, the smart wallet offers slimmest solution to hold belongings, while containing hidden pocket for coin, keys and cards. Through wi-fi technology, it offers to enjoy RFID blocking to keep credit cards secure and has a GPS tracking device that communicates with a smartphone app when the wallet is out of range or even lost.
The smart wallet can be ordered for $75 as the inaugural price and available at the Kickstarter sales stores. It has witnessed a sell for $10,000 within the first few hours of hitting the crowd and hurriedly approaching towards the sale target of $16,000, reports Cultofmac .
After completion of the inaugural campaign conducted by Kickstarter, Ekster will be available with two appearances- black and deep coffee brown with two different categories. The Parliament Edition, comprising of bi- fold units can hold up to 12 cards along with coins, keys and other belongings, while rendering RFID protection for 5 cards, will be sold at $89. The Senate Edition, carries up to eight cards while RFID protection for 5 cards will be priced $69.
The word ‘Ekster’, a Dutch one, stands for ‘Magpie’ in meaning. Magpie is a thieving bird known in that country as an Ekster. Nature of the bird has been attracted by the Dutch developer, Phorce, to name the product after its local version. Notably mentioning that Phorce produced ‘Smart Bags’ earlier, popular for its handy size and device recharging capability.
The wallet features include a tracker that operates through Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy. Protag, a customized app for iOS and Androids, enables the user to locate the wallet through ringing. The app also alerts the user while going out of range, leaving the wallet behind and displays a notification message pointing the place of leaving on the Google map, reports Giz Magazine .
Kickstarter reveals another notable feature of Ekster which increases possibilities of retrieving a lost wallet. When another Protag user passes through the range of the lost wallet, he receives a GPS update so that the passerby may communicate with the person who has lost his wallet.
The tracker battery may be recharged through the built-in slim USB port and the battery lasts for around six months on single charge. The supercharged wallet is able to recharge two devices conjugally. An iPhone may be charged up to 50% while a Galaxy S6 up to 36% as well, according to a report published in Businessinsider Australia .
Ekster, the calf leather built smart wallet, introduced by Kickstarter, Phorce appointed marketing agent, is witnessing a huge customer demand due to its unique features which include securing preserved cards through wi-fi, GPS tracking of lost device, super power storage capability as well as recharging to other devices.
