Microsoft Considers Trump Immigration Ban as Misguided

Feb 01, 2017 03:52 PM EST

Microsoft believes the executive order of President Donald Trump on immigration ban is misguided and a fundamental step backward. The Redmond company believes there are more effective ways to protect public safety without creating so much collateral damage to US reputation and values.

Satya Nadella, Microsoft CEO, said that he always comes back to two things -- the enduring principles and values that drive Microsoft as a company and his own personal story. According to Microsoft, Satya Nadella stated there is no place for bias or bigotry in any society and the company will always stand for diversity and inclusion.

He declares that it is the ingenuity of the American technology that reached him where he was growing up that even made it possible for him to dream of being able to be part of this journey. It is the enlightened immigration policy of this country that even made it possible for him to come to US in the first place, and gave him all this opportunity.

Satya Nadella will always advocate for that America that he knows and that he has experienced, he also added that Microsoft will do that consistently. They are not going to overreact because of any one incident, but they will always stand for what they believe are the enduring principles that really are going to be about them as a company, but also recognizing that they are a multinational company that is an American company.

Satya Nadella made clear that Microsoft will continue to work directly with employees and their families affected by the executive order, even providing them with legal and other assistance. Microsoft will continue to advocate strongly on these issues with the administration and with Congress.
