The company behind the most-loved iPhones and MacBooks is now planning to revolutionize the standard mobile hotspots into more elegant ones as Apple introduces its new patent application which is set to improve mobile's hotspot battery life and their overall ease of use.
Following the Tuesday release of its newly upgraded products, the 15-inch MacBook and 27-inch iMac, Apple now moves on to redesigning the mobile hotspot. The new application which was published by the US Patent and Trademark Office outlines a dedicated cellular hotspot that provides a way to connect the Apple Watch to mobile networks in a smaller, easier and more portable package than iPhone.
In its patent application, Apple highlights the poor signal and security issues surrounding public hotspots. It also describes how the convenience of tethering to a smartphone has a downside which causes the mobile batteries to drain quickly. These small but significant problems are the issues Apple wants to mitigate by redesigning mobile hotspots in a simple but secure and more portable than what is already out there.
The company's own cylindrical hotspot features no external controls and would come in two parts - the antennas and a SIM card reader, with a battery pack that can be upgraded to larger-capacity units. The first half helps the user to get online while the other half runs the hotspot's battery life. Without external buttons, the user only needs to twist the two sections of its tube-like case to turn it on or off.
The new design is another innovation which provides a neat and effective solution for everyday mobile use. Apple believes it is a great alternative when a user prefers to lessen the number of devices they are carrying around with them more importantly while doing things like hiking, camping or jogging.
