Samsung Is Ahead In The Virtual Reality Market With Its New Gear VR Innovation Edition Headset

May 27, 2015 01:44 AM EDT

Samsung has potentially topped the virtual reality market with its Gear VR Innovation edition headset which is best used in gaming and video streaming.

Sale of Samsung's most recent released smartphones, Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, has declined after only less than 10 million out of the 60 million units produced were shipped out. It looks like Samsung has risen from the ground as it likely gets itself a new cash cow in the virtual reality market with its VR headset.

Samsung has already released two mobile Virtual Reality headsets in the market, one version for the Galaxy Note S4 and another for the Galaxy S6. Both versions of the Gear VR Innovator Edition headset are available in Best Buy for only $200. Samsung has designed the VR device with a sleek appearance and consumer friendly controls. What the users only have to do is to plug the smartphone into the front portion of Gear VR to activate it. Once activated, a 1440 x 2560 pixel display of the phone will appear as the device's screen.

According to Nick DiCarlo, vice president and general manager of immersive products and virtual reality at Samsung, the company is really close to providing a whole mesmeric virtual reality familiarity and experience for their customers. "We know there's going to be a lot of technology evolution in this space and we want to set the right expectations in people's minds," he says. "If you know the technology is going to advance rapidly and you want to wait, now might not be the right time for you. The Innovator Edition is a step beyond the developer's kit and it's designed for anyone to use."

This transports users to new incredible realms which is why it is best used in gaming or streaming videos. It does not only feature a 360 degree panoramic sight but also an easy-to-touch controls. Business Insider presented how the Innovator Edition works in action, and demonstrated how the user got fully engulfed with the epic virtual world experience the device provided. What's more impressive was that the user did not experience glitches or complications while using the Samsung device.

Samsung may have done a great job in entering the VR market but it still has to strive hard in order to catch up in the smartphone market. But with the epic and incredible virtual experience the Gear VR Innovator Edition, Samsung can surely provide a good future to the VR world, and in return VR may just become its passport to encourage more customers to purchase its Galaxy phones.
