British design guru of Apple identified as Jonathan Ive, a.k.a Jony Ive, has been promoted to be the company's Chief Design officer in a recent announcement. Ive will still retain his task of being the leader of all hardware and design initiatives of the projects that the company is working on.

In a report by The Telegraph on Monday, May 25, Ive is to focus more on design and travelling but the exact details of his new job have not been announced yet. However, it was reported by the publication that Ives will have to oversee the construction projects of Apple specifically Campus 2 and other Apple stores that are to be but up in different parts of the world.

The person who will take his place as the one who oversees industrial design duties will be Richard Howarth. He has been part of the company since the production debut of the first stereotypes of the iPhone back in 2007. For the head of User Interface, Alan Dye has been assigned to take the former post headed by Ive. Ive will still be closely monitoring these departments with the help of the newly-assigned leaders.

In a statement by Apple released to TechCrunch, the new role of Ive will focus entirely on "current design projects, new ideas and future initiatives," which the British designer is comfortable working with.

Apple's chief executive, Tim Cook, also said in the statement that Ive is one of the most talented and accomplished designer of his generation. Adding, "...with an astonishing 5,000 design and utility patents to his name."

Ive was the Senior Vice President of Design for Apple back in 2013 and has had dual roles as the chief hardware and human interface designer. He has helped design products for Apple such as the iPod, iPhone, iPad, and as of late, the smartwatch. He is also rumored to be working on the design for Apple's alleged car.

The new appointment of Ive is not yet effective as his new role will take effect this coming July.
