Both Optus and Rogers are rolling out Android 5.0.2 and 5.1 updates for their own version of smartphones this month, such as Galaxy S5, Moto G LTE, and Moto X (1st Gen).
Optus completes Android 5.0.2 updates for Galaxy S5
Australian carrier Optus reportedly revealed that the Android 5.0.2 update will hit Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900) devices this month.
The community was seen testing the Lollipop upgrade for the mentioned smartphone, with the site allegedly posting, "Next Version - Lollipop 5.0.2; Currently Testing - expected release early June."
When MoneyTimes checked on the update, it seems that the 5.0.2 is a sure thing to look forward as Optus edited their report of the Galaxy S5 Lollipop upgrade saying, "Next Version - Lollipop 5.0.2; Update 01/06/15 (June 1, 2015) - Completed."
Galaxy S5 users can expect the 5.0.2 update to bring bug fixes with TRIM support, which stopped devices from the nightly on-charger cleanups of file system allocations. There will also be changes how alarms wake the CPU as well as how alarms compete for system resources.
Galaxy S5 owners are also advised to "keep an eye" on their devices over the next few weeks, as told by an Opus Online Community Manager to an inquirer saying, "@sf7 Andy has just updated the table as we've finished testing the lollipop update for the S5 so it's over to the manufacturer to begin distribution. This is usually staggered so keep an eye on your phone over the next few weeks."
Rogers rolls out Android 5.0.2, 5.1 updates for Moto G LTE and Moto X
Besides Optus, Canadian carrier Rogers is also rolling out Lollipop upgrades for its versions of Moto G LTE and Moto X with Android 5.1 and 5.0.2, respectively. The firmware will reportedly arrive anytime this month.
Motorola already released Android updates for the first gen Moto X and Verizon DROID Turbo. As a result, both Moto X (1st Gen) and DROID Turbo will proceed on having the 5.0.2 update.
The Moto G LTE on Rogers, meanwhile, will receive the full "package" that 5.1 is expected to bring, such as Quick Settings menu, new icons, and a security feature that makes the device stay locked when it gets stolen. It will only be unlocked if the owner signs in to his/her Google account.
