Nokia is ready to compete with other technology providers in the datacenter arena with their new datacenter service for mobile network operators.
Nokia AirFrame Data Center is the company's localized cloud-based data center service that will run on an Intel Corp's platform. This will allow network operators to better compete with the demand of data in providing internet services like what Amazon and Google do.
Now that Nokia is celebrating their 150th anniversary, the telecom hardware maker boasts of being the first vendor to efficiently combine the IT and telco domains with AirFrame Data Center Solution.
Nokia had just recently released an official statement regarding their new and innovative venture.
"The Nokia AirFrame Data Center Solution is 5G-ready and supports the vision of a more flexible and distributed cloud architecture, which is the foundation to deliver the latency and data processing requirements of the future," the company wrote.
The new data center solution is now available and its components include Nokia AirFrame Cloud Servers and Switches, which are pre-integrated racks with ultra-dense servers, high performance switches, and software defined storage, including Nokia Networks specific enhancements. With this, AirFrame is more efficient than other solutions that run Virtual Network Functions.
AirFrame also goes with a suite of professional services provided by experts and it is also designed to implement, monitor, and operate telco cloud data centers.
Sandra Rivera, Vice President and General Manager of Network Platforms Group, Intel said expressed her delight over their partnership with Nokia in its path to provide a data center solution.
"We believe that combining Intel's leading processors and virtualization technologies with Nokia Networks' deep knowledge of the telecommunications market will accelerate adoption for cloud technologies deployed by leading operators worldwide," said Rivera.
The Finnish company has entered the datacenter market to compete with other technology providers including Hewlett Packard and Cisco. Previously, Ericsson also decided to join the datacenter market with their open source cloud operating system, OpenStack.
