Amazon's Fire TV Powers Up With GameFly Streaming

People can play computer games on their PCs, Game Consoles, and even on their mobile devices, but Amazon's Fire TV gets more gaming power with GameFly streaming where players can play some popular games on their cheap Amazon set-top box.

TechCrunch noticed the buzz about the Fire TV app along with its game streaming addition GameFly, perhaps to compete with the Apple TV, which is rumored to be released next week. Amazon now features GameFly after acquiring Playcast. This new feature adds to the previous rental offering of Amazon's Fire TV.

This move by Amazon is considered by SlashGear as a big win for the giant tech company, since game streaming is not something that other competitions offer. Apple TV, Roku, and Chromecast are TV streaming apps that does not offer game streaming.

For only $6.99 a month, users can play a bundle of 7 games with titles including Darksiders II, Batman Arkham series, Dirt 3, and more. There will be 6 bundles to choose from, grouped according to common themes. They may not be the latest top-tier games, but they are graphically impressive. Premium bundles on the other hand costs $9.99 a month package inclusive of 16 games for the GameFly app.

Games may be played using Amazon's Fire TV Game Controller at $40. It may also work with the streaming app using controllers from Xbox 360, Logitech F-710, and Logitech F-310. An internet connection that does not go below 10 mbps is necessary to ensure uninterrupted game streaming.

This is a notable advancement to the streamed gaming industry. There were doubts about this industry in the past with starters like OnLive. But now, Amazon is partnering with big gaming household names like Sony to stream games straight to users' home set-top boxes. This could easily be considered as the thing of the future, with Amazon's Fire TV getting more gaming credibility with GameFly streaming progressing.
