SoundHound Challenges Siri with New Hound Voice Search App and Developer Platform

Popular music recognition app, SoundHound challenges Siri with new Hound Voice Search App and Developer Platform. There is something much bigger than what is seen on the surface of this voice recognition app, according to its makers.

TechCrunch reports that SounHound CEO Keyvan Mohajer said that the app is one of Silicon Valley's "best kept secrets". Even though the music app didn't really capture the hearts of the public, Mohajer said it was just a first step to a much bigger goal. He said that they are developing speech recognition and is innovating natural language processing technology. This leads to a program that could understand a broad range of human commands and questions.

In short, SoundHound is actually building a better version of Apple's Siri.

After its beta launch on Tuesday, SoundHound suddenly become a top competitor for other voice recognizing software like Siri, Cortana, and the app from Google. The International Business Times reported that GroundHound also launched a private beta product of their Houndify, which is a developer platform app that allows other company to put their services and information on the voice-recognition app. Travel booking agency Expedia has now tied up with GroundHound.

Mohajer told IBT that now is the right time to "enable the whole world to use voice."

According to BidnessETC, GroundHound used to only search for music in the internet after the user orders the app to do so. Its main competitor was Shazam, which was a more popular name in that industry. But now that it has developed features that allow it to answer human queries faster, it poses strong competition against Siri, Cortana, and Google Voice as well.

Mohajer made an example by asking the GroundHound app some tricky question, and the voice recognition software was still able to answer it - and quick. This proves that SoundHound challenges Siri with its new hound voice search app and its developer platform app.
