Hawaiian Airlines’ Fully Flat First Class Seats Announced; Project Starts in 2016

Hawaiian Airlines' fully flat First Class seats are now on its way after the airline company announced that they are adding 180-degree seats to their A330 aircraft first and business class cabins.

Travelers could get advantage of Hawaiian Airlines' fully flat First Class seats that come with in-flight entertainment on its large tablets and telescoping tablet arm, according to KHON2.

"We believe that this is going to usher in a new premium service in Hawaii," said airlines CEO Mark Dunkerley. "This new service is going to underscore our mission to be the premiere destination carrier and it's going to take our signature in-flight hospitality to an entire new level. It's been designed to recognize that we're primarily a leisure-based carrier, catered to families traveling to the vacation of a lifetime," Hawaiian Airlines President and CEO Mark Dunkerley said in a statement.

Dunkerley added that Hawaiian Airlines' fully flat First Class seats have been in consideration for nearly four years.  He expressed his hope that the new design could invite more couple and families on premier cabins.  With the aircraft's stylish innovation on its interior, the economy seats will be lessened by 44. This then gives the aircraft the space to design 28 more "extra comfort" seat-beds, Biz Journals reports.

Hawaiian Airlines collaborated with Italian manufacturer, Optimares, to come up with the fully flat First Class seats that can be extended to a 76-inch bed. To make it more appealing, the seats were inspired by Hawaiian elements, water and wind. The design was developed by PaulWylde Consultancy. To make it futuristic, the seat-beds have "telescoping tablet arms" that holds iPads.

Hawaiian Airlines' fully flat First Class seats will be fully installed by 2017 and will be initialized by the second quarter of next year. With the plan, there would be total of 278 seats, 68 "extra comfort," 18  first and business class and 192 economy seats.  The present aircraft has 294 seat capacity designed with 236 economy seats, 40 "extra comfort," and 18 first and business class seats, Maui Now reports.

With the launching of the Hawaiian Airlines' fully flat First Class seats, passengers will still enjoy its signature onboard hospitality program, Mea Ho'okipa and their complimentary Hawaiian meals and snacks.  Are you planning to try their new seat-beds next year?
