Lyft Gives Free DeLorean rides for New Yorker Fans of the 1980s sci-fi classic film fans of "Back to the Future"

For the 1980s sci-fi classic film fans of "Back to the Future" second sequel of the franchise, the date October 21, 2015 is a memorable for them. The date marks the arrival of the two main characters of the classic film, Marty McFly and Doc Brown to the future. The New Yorker Fans of the all time favorite movie had the chance to relive the scene from the classic film as Lyft, Verizon and Universal offers a free DeLorean rides for the fans yesterday, Wednesday.

The CN Traveler reported, the ride sharing app, Lyft is in partnership with the Verizon and Universal launched the new promo, Free DeLorean rides on Wednesday, the 21^st of October. The promo started from 11 am until 5 pm in Manhattan. To request for the special free ride, the Lyft app users need to select the "McFly Mode" option on the ride sharing. The app is available for both iPhone and Android users.

However, according to The Verge, though, it is a free ride, "still the ability to travel either forward or back through the timestream is dependent on reaching 88 mph, and the speed limit in the New York was just lowered to 25 mph."

The Verizon's Senior vice president of brand creative marketing, Melissa Garlick said, "We want to give our customers access to exclusive and unexpected experiences, cool apps and new technology," the CNBC reported. Although, there are no hover boards, floating cars or even shoelace tying itself as the storied film have shown, the company wants to honor the classic sci-fi movie.

There are also rumors that the future vertically-opening cars are being delivered from all across the country, however, Lyft has no words on it. The free ride was only a 15-minute ride and the said speed limit is less than 88 mph. The Lyft Company did not revealed the number of DeLorean vehicles that was around the city.
