Augmented reality company Magic Leap has always been tight-lipped on the advanced technology it has been cooking in the lab, but on October 20 it released a teaser video on just how incredibly unbelievable its capabilities are.

In The Wall Street Journal's WSJDLive 2015 conference in Laguna Beach, California, Magic Leap CEO Rony Abovitz showcased a video clip of the company's augmented reality technology.

Mashable reported that Magic Leap posted a demonstration of its augmented reality system on YouTube. It shows images of objects presented in augmented reality as what users would see. There was a scene where a robot is hovering under a desk. Meanwhile, another scene shows the solar system floating right in front of the viewer as a person is seen working in the back. The most interesting part is how Earth looks so real with cloud moving around it. Earth, in Magic Leap's technology, looks like the real thing. These images maintain their position in relation to the movement of the viewer's head.

According to Quartz, Magic Leap doesn't refer to these technologies as augmented reality or virtual reality. The company prefers to call it "mixed reality."

Abovitz said the technology will be self-contained which means it won't be as awkward to wear as the Google Glass. "We believe the future of computing should be natural," he said. Since the computer is so advanced, no operating system can handle it. This is why Magic Leap is also developing its own OS. So far, the company has raised more than $500 million. Abovitz said they are preparing to ship millions of their technology, but he said they are not yet announcing when they would start to market the product. He simply suggested that they are not far from doing so.

The company still hasn't revealed how its hardware would look like, but with its competitors starting to gain momentum, the company is now pressured to reveal its technology to the public.
