Everybody seems to be taking advantage of the Back to the Future hype; even Google rides this craze by tweeting fake confidential plans of creating a time-travelling car.
According to IBN Live Google tweeted a link to a PDF that outlines plans for "Project Flux," which is a fictional blueprint of what seems to be a time-travelling car. The 14-page link starts with a "Confidential: Do Not Share Outside of Google."
It also includes a statement saying, "Teleportation is only an incremental solution to make the world universally explorable. Flux...is designed to be a 10x solution." It has drawings of 7 different prototype capsules and it mentions conducting "88 public test flights by mid-2016."
The Verge explains why Google named their fake confidential leak "Project Flux." Flux capacitator is the technology that allows the DeLorean DMC-12 to travel through time from October 26, 1985 to October 21, 2015 when it hits the 88mph mark.
Since the protagonists in Back to the Future Part 2 arrived in the future a few days ago, then it would be just right to celebrate long with it. Google's time-travelling car is a hybrid of the DeLorean and its self-driving cars.
The pdf blueprint is filled with references from the popular 80s time-travel movie. The 88 public test flights is a nod to the 88mph speed that the DeLorean has to go in order to travel through time.
Besides Google, there are other companies that are celebrating along with the arrival of Doc Brown and Marty McFly to the future, which is just a few days ago. Pocket-Lint reported that ride-hailing service Lyft is also offered free DeLorean rides in New York City on October 21, 2015.
This way, fans can experience how it's like riding the Back to the Future iconic car. Nike also collaborated with Michael J Fox foundation to launch its limited-edition, power-lace Nike Mags by next spring.
It seems like some of the things represented by Back in the Future on how 2015 would look like were right.
