Swiss watchmaker Tag Heuer has unveiled its first Android smartwatch called "Tag Heuer Connected". Tag Heuer Connected combines Swiss watch's classic Carrera design with the U.S. technology.

The company has teamed up with Google for its Android Wear software and Intel for its sensors and processing.

TAG Heuer President & CEO Jean-Claude Biver said in an announcement, as reported by Watch Insider, that the TAG Heuer Connected watch will give the users the means not only to connect to the future but also to connect to eternity.

TAG Heuer Connected has 46 mm in diameter with chronograph design. Its case, back, and lugs are made from grade 2 titanium. The material makes the watch lighter and more resistant than those which made from steel or gold.

The Connected is equipped with a sapphire crystal touchscreen, that according to The Verge, has a "transflective" display, which makes it readable in direct sunlight. It also has an always on mode to display the time. The watch's screen is sharp and vibrant and responds to finger swipes.

The smartwatch's design completed by a textured rubber strap available in six colors (black, red, blue, white, orange, green and yellow), with a deploying buckle made of grade 2 titanium. The Connected is IP67 water resistant rated.

The innards of TAG Heuer Connected featured with an Intel Atom processor Z34XX and runs the Android Wear Platform. The intel processor optimizes the watch performance and enables a multitude of connectivity options including audio streaming, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.

It has 4GB of memory and a rechargeable lithium battery that provides all-day battery life. The smartwatch is equipped with a microphone to enable communications via Google voice control.

The watch can be connected with other devices such as smartphones. It allows exchange data service. The Android Wear Platform enables the watch to download apps, including texting features, Google Fit, and  Google maps. The smartwatch also has "draw emoji" feature.

The TAG Heuer Connected costs $1,500, according to Reuters. The company released one thousand units of men's watch that are available in 15 stores across the United States, Britain, Germany, and Japan. The company announced that the women's version of the watch is in making.

TAG Heuer is unable to brand the device "Swiss made" as the Connected is being produced at Intel manufacturing sites. The watch comes with the label "Intel Inside" and "Swiss Engineered" on the watch case.

TheTAG Heuer Connected is said to compete against Apple Watch although another Swiss watchmaker, the Swatch Group, also has smartwatch products at its Swatch and Tissot brands.
