Uber announced to add 'ride request' button to every app

Ride-sharing service Uber has made the customers, all over the world to opt for online service rather than choosing to ride in taxis. It has now introduced another amazing feature on every app, a 'ride request' button.

According to Mashable, recently Uber announced the introduction of a new Uber Ride Request button for both iOS and Android apps developers. The Uber Rides Software Developer Kits (SDK) is currently available on Uber's GitHub page of iOS and android.

Uber's button is programmed to enter the address of any app opened, for example a restaurant app, automatically as a destination. For users, a tap on the button opens up the Uber app with the destination already set. And for those who have not installed Uber, they will be led to the App Store directly.

App developers can generate some extra cash with Uber's Affiliate program. All they need to do is bring new riders to the Uber app. For each customer, Uber pays $5. The minimum payout is $250 and the maximum is $5,000. If the developer crossed the maximum limit, they will be added to Uber's "partners program".

Through this, the users will be benefited from 'instantly get a ride' to the hotel, restaurant, movie theater or any other destination the developer specified. Moreover, this will provide users with a differentiated feature, a mesmerizing riding experience and even generate extra revenue for your business, as reported by Developers.

In order to add the button to your app, the developer first has to register their App on the Uber Developer Dashboard and then the next step is to install the new Uber iOS or Android Rides SDK.

Next, the developer has to configure and exhibit the Ride Request Button next to every address or 'intent to ride' in your app. Optimize by specifying maximum trip information (E.g. Pickup Location, Destination, Product etc).

However, as mentioned by Tech Crunch, developers can't put the Uber button next to links or buttons for other car services.

According to Uber's API terms, "You may not use the Uber API, Uber API Materials, or Uber Data in any manner that is competitive to Uber or the Uber Services, including, without limitation, in connection with any application, website or other product or service that also includes, features, endorses, or otherwise supports in any way a third party that provides services competitive to Uber's products and services, in our sole discretion."

The first Uber API was launched in last August with partnerships with OpenTable and TripAdvisor after experimenting with a deep-link button in Google Maps. After that more apps like Hilton soon gave joining, irrespective of the exclusivity policy.

To use API, the developers first have to get experience with deep links, design their own visual treatments, and do trial-and-error testing.
