Armored Mercedes-Maybach S600 is the new bulletproof luxury sedan
Canada's INKAS Armored Vehicle Manufacturing has unveiled an armored sedan based on the 2016 Mercedes-Maybach S600. The armored Maybach S600 offers extra protection for Mercedes-Maybach owners who need more protection than a car standard safety system.
The armored S600 sedan is designed to stop bullets and to protect the car owner from bombs.
The Toronto-based INKAS aims to make a high-end armored vehicle that looks as standard and inconspicuous as possible based on the Mercedes-Maybach S600 luxury sedan. The armored sedan looks completely normal from the outside.
However, INKAS has added some extra protections in the car.
INKAS' modification on Mercedes-Maybach S600 includes armor plating and structural reinforcements that meet the European CEN 1063 BR7 standards, according to Car Scoops.
The strengthened body can withstand successive rounds of a full jacket, pointed bullet and NATO ammunition. In addition, the windows are also modified with bulletproof glass that has the same ballistic protection with the body.
Other modifications include independent air conditioning system, fire suppression system and reinforced suspension and braking system along with run flat tires.
The armored Mercedes-Maybach S600 also has a James Bond-like smokescreen generator to help the owners to escape a tricky situation.
The armored Mercedes-Maybach S600 looks indistinguishable from the unarmored vehicle of the same class, both in visual appearance and normal performance, according to Business Insider. INKAS maintains the luxury in the armored sedan.
The Mercedes-Maybach S600 is powered by 6.0 liter Biturbo V12 engine producing 523 horsepower. The sedan is touted as the world's quietest car and comes with a standard Burmester audio system with high standards of interiors including leather recliners and hot stone massaging system.
According to Robb Report, the vehicle will be hand delivered by an INKAS Ambassador upon request. The armored sedan priced at $500,000, including the $189,000 for the Maybach. The INKAS Ambassador will offer a complete on-site vehicle walkthrough, security systems training and evasive driving course.
Chief Operating Officer at INKAS Armored Vehicle Manufacturing ret. Major-General David Fraser said that the armored Mercedes-Maybach S600 shows what happens when the best innovations in security, performance, and technology merge to make a top-notch vehicle.
Fraser added that the car is meant to perform and the company is sure that the armored Mercedes-Maybach S600 will gain much attention from high-end customers as it released next year.
