Target Launches the Future of Retail with the First Ever Cartless Shopping
The prospect of the retail will be unveiled during this festive season. Target is all set to launch a retail store that will comprise partly a pop art display and partly a magical toy store. This initiative is said to be located in the Downtown Manhattan.
The press release from the company reads, "Best of all, Target Wonderland combines physical and digital shopping in exciting new ways, giving guests a peek at the future of retail, imagined by Target," as reported in the Business Insider. The Target's Wonderland is spread over an area of 16,000 square feet.
The visitors can find heavy drawings of the Holiday Odyssey chain campaign and the life-size Lego pirate ship as appears on the TV advertisements displayed in the store. Drawing your own picture on the large Etch a Sketch or flying drones and driving remote control cars through a Smartphone app, can also engage the visitors to have a gala time.
This Christmas, the shopping experience for both the adults and the children will be enthralling with complete focus on toys. The entry is free for next 2 weeks, starting from December 9, 2015.
As The Money report suggests, the Minneapolis-based retailer's idea is not just the display of life size lego or ball pits. An RFID tag designed as a target sign will be given to the visitors when they enter the Wonderland. This tag can be scanned at the display and put into the digital cart and finally, paid and picked at the end of the shopping journey.
The retail analyst Amy Koo said that the idea behind this new first ever cartless shopping is to make the customers feel less burdened. Through this process, the shopping experience will be easy, unproblematic and trouble-free.
According to the Fortune report, Target is currently testing new shopping concepts and next generation in-store experiences, which include the use of robots. The Chief Marketing Officer of Target, Jeff Jones said that their idea of this Wonderland retail store is somewhat how Santa Claus, Dr. Seuss or Willy Wonka would have in mind if they were asked to create such a Christmas store.
For any regular stuff like staplers, diapers, or inner garments, customers will not look forward to displays. The special merchandises as in the Wonderland store will definitely make the shopping journey easy for the shoppers. The only aim of Target is to give the customers a different shopping experience without being troubled and hassled by the carts.
