A Rare Find: 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429 found in junkyard
A person found a very rare real 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429 back in a junkyard back in 1975 when he was looking for "a car to drive to work" for his then future brother-in-law.
Mustang 360 wrote an article about a person named Keith Clark who is a "car guy" who found the Boss 429 without the original engine in a local junkyard, some 40 years ago. He bought the car for two grand, which back then was a big amount of money.
"My brother-in-law had just gotten his first job in construction, and was making decent money for the day," said Clark. "He took the [Boss 429] engine apart as far as you possibly can. The only way you could put that engine in more parts was to use a hammer."
The car was used as a work car for a couple of years, before a real Boss 429 engine was installed.
Clark's brother-in-law planned to sell the car back when he got married in 1977, and despite all the modifications, Clark was very interested with the car. He bought it for around four to five grand from his brother-in-law, which was also a big amount back then. Clark couldn't afford to restore the car to its full glory, so he just used it as an ordinary car.
Clark said, "I used to feel bad about the flares until I went to the 100 years of Ford show. My nephew and I went for a walk, and on the way back he said, 'Whoa, wait a minute? How many people are standing around all those Boss 429s that are nice and perfect?'" He got a lot of offers that could reach up to $100,000, but he opted to keep the car for himself.
Meanwhile, The Bulletin reported that the first new Ford Mustang will arrive in Rockhampton this week. There are 20 of this Mustang that were sold in Central Queensland. The new 2016 Mustang still retains its classic American style.
In a report by Chron, the 2016 Mustang has an independent rear-suspension system and a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The first Mustang to have this engine was the 1984 Ford Mustang SVO. It can deliver up to 310 horsepower and 320 lb.-ft of torque.
The Ford Mustang is truly an American Icon since back in 1964. It is closely associated to a two-door high performance car.
