Shopify ended the day with 50% raise on its initial price per share during its debut on Thursday

Shopify debuted on Thursday on Wall Street following its initial public offering which gained shares of more than 50% during its first day of trading. Shopify is an e-commerce software developer that offers web-based solutions to online merchants, including website creation and payments processing.

Shopify started at a price between $12 and $14 per share and ended the day with $25.68 per share reaching a peak of about $28.74 per share. Now that Shopify goes public, it joins other e-commerce players like Etsy (known for selling handcrafted goods) and Alibaba (a big Chinese e-commerce).

Another tech company Baozun, which shared a debut date with Shopify, ended with a 4.6% first-day gain after it lowered its IPO price per share from a price range of $12 to $14, to just $10 per share.

Difference Capital's managing partner Tom Liston said that his company has invested in some "IPO ready" companies. "It's going to prompt more of them to consider that as an option and maybe accelerate plans to go public," Liston said.

Technology companies going public remain to be one of the most anticipated events in the market, although the IPO calendar has been slower this year than was expected. An increase in market offering in the coming months will mean more liquidity for digital entrepreneurs and venture capitalists.

Shopify lets small businesses create its own online shop without the hassle of creating a separate website. With its user-friendly interface, starting an online shop becomes easy for every digital entrepreneur.

Credit card and Paypal along with 50 other payment gateways can be used for payment processing. SEO tools that support Google Analytics, XML Sitemap, auto-submission to Google and Google Webmaster toolkit are already built-in on the site.

While other e-commerce service providers require hiring a developer to put on an online shop, Shopify is very ready to use, with free themes that can be customized.
