Samsung Implodes From Samsung Galaxy S6 Release, Only 10 Million Units Sold; Should Samsung Worry?
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, which Samsung would like to call as the "iPhone killer," might not live up to what the company has coined it as reports have surfaced saying that the company was only able to sell 10 million units, which was half the original number that Samsung estimated they would sell a month after its release.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge was released on April 10 and was expected to hit over 70 million units to be sold before the year ends. However, a high-ranking official from the company said that the current standing of the unit's sales is quite odd and worries one of top tech companies in the world.
In a report by Korea Herald, the official said, "The sales of the Galaxy S6 series have already surpassed 10 million." However, he did not elaborate as to when the figure was reached but in comparison with the Samsung Galaxy S5, as per sales for the first month, the company was able to sell 11 million units.
A research by Business Insider shared that Samsung might be on the road of "imploding" as they are not getting back on track with regard to beating iPhone. The S6 was launched in order to make up for the low profit that the S5 suffered from when it was launched a year ago during the same period.
In the research, it was also detailed why the sales is low despite the media hype and different advertisements released. Basically, it still has a cutting-edge CPU, great design, curved display, iPhone-like casing, front area fingerprint sensor, and a camera with OIS but it did not have any new feature that Samsung users would love to have.
Although the design is great as it was new customized designs such as the Blue Topaz Galaxy S6, the Green Emerald Galaxy S6 Edge, the Rose Gold, the Platinum, and the 24-karat Gold, Samsung Galaxy S6 still fell short of what the users expected to experience.
Samsung is yet to announce the official number regarding the Samsung Galaxy S6 sales by the end of the second quarter of the year.
