Amazon debuts $99 Kindle bundle for kids; Promo offer aims to enforce reading this summer
A $99 Kindle bundle has been made available by web-based retailer Amazon specially intended for children. The offer also seeks to promote reading for kids now that summer is near.
BUNDLE OF JOY FOR KIDS
Amazon's $99 kindle bundle for kids includes the latest Kindle which costs $99 alone, a lightweight kid-friendly cover originally sold at $19.99, and a two-year warranty from SquareTrade ($19.99). With the bundle offered, this would make buyers save $39.98. The Kindle is a device made to look like a book. Kindle has over 250,000 children's electronic books or e-books that can be bought on the web separately or borrowed from a local public library.
The two-year warranty period covers accidents such as spills or drops. The warrant needs to be activated via e-mail that will be received once the Kindle is shipped. The said device is available in green, pink, dark blue, black and purple hues. It comes with Kindle Free Time wherein reading targets can be set and progress can be tracked and rewarded.
PARENTAL CONTROL
The device also comes with a dictionary, vocabulary builder and a feature which automatically gives a definition to difficult words kids would come across while reading. Parents meanwhile can be at ease while their children are using the gadget as Free Time blocks kids' access to browse the internet, make purchases on the Kindle store and do other activities. Parents will be the ones to choose what reading materials are for their children.
Games and other apps are not supported by the Kindle e-reader unlike the Kindle tablet which means parents are assured that their children will focus on reading only. A report says parents just need to check on the FreeTime's parent settings to be able to control their child's activities.
Meanwhile, the Kindle bundle is only available in the US.
Amazon's $99 Kindle bundle is just in time for the summer season when reading is encouraged among children. In fact, the e-reader comes with books that were picked perfectly for summer reading.
