Two More Bodies Washed During Hays County Flood Found, Sue McNeil Carey And Laura Schultz McComb Identified

Two bodies were recovered last week from the flood that hit Hays County, Texas and the bodies reportedly belonged to Sue McNeil Carey and Laura Schultz McComb.

Laura McComb has been missing since May 23 and the 34-year-old mother of two was swept from their home together with her husband, identified as Jonathan, seven-year-old son Andrew, and four-year-old daughter Leighton. The vacation house that the family stayed at during the Memorial Day weekend was located at Wimberley, Texas and it was washed towards the Blanco River.

Hays County Sheriff's Office announced on their Facebook page that the bodies found last week were indeed that of McComb and 71-year-old Carey. Carey was reportedly found in San Marcos at 11:30 in the morning while McComb was found hours later in Wimberley.

The husband of McComb, Jonathan, was found 12 miles down the Blanco River and is said to be under the intensive care unit. From the said incident, Jonathan suffered a collapsed lung, a broken rib, and a broken sternum. As for the kids, Andrew's body was found last week while Leighton is still missing and it is unknown if she is still alive. Leighton is one of the four people who are still missing from the flood.

In a statement released by the family of the McCombs to ABC News, the support of people who do not even personally know Laura, Andrew, and Leighton is overwhelming as they have spent many hours searching for them. The family added, "The kindness and hard work of volunteers allows us to take Laura and Andrew home so we can lay them to rest. We can't thank you enough for helping us through this difficult time."

As of Monday evening, the death toll was already at 31. There have been eight bodies recovered by the Hays County officers but one has not been identified yet.
