Metal performance for Apple's desktop OS - X 10.11: EI Capitan
Among the slew of product and services launched at Worldwide Developer Conference, Apple also introduced its latest version of desktop operating system- OS X 10.11 EI Capitan.
Named after the iconic Yosemite National Park rock formation, Mac OS X build EI Capitan is full of performance and user interface updates that is sure to make your PC work much better than ever before, says Apple.
From smart to intelligent
Experts feel Apple has pushed its desktop's operating system from being smart to intelligent. In EI Capitan, Apple has introduced natural language search to the Mail app, where a user can search for messages using lines such as "Email I ignored from Marc". The Mail also come with the advantages of swipe-based gestures that gives the feeling of iOS email app. However, there is still difference between them.
Improved browsers
Safari browser saw refinement over the years and it now comes with a tiny button that can mute audio and videos playing in the background tab. Background here means any number of tabs deep. While its new Pinned Tabs features allows users to go to windows open in the background.
Multi-tasking split screen
This feature is something which users would say was long overdue. EI Capitan can accommodate two apps split on a full screen, the feature which can be seen in Apple's latest iOS 9. Another feature in the Apple's desktop OS is the browser- which swells up to become more visible when the users wiggle the mouse.
There is also another aspect where the user can drag the video from Safari to play it in Apple TV. 'Time to Leave' feature in EI Capitan calculates the travel time for your appointments and alerts you to start heading.
Improved performance with Metal
Metal, Apple's groundbreaking graphic technology will accelerate core animation and graphics. This was introduced in iOS last year and now makes its way to Mac. This technology also takes advantage of your CPU and GPU delivering up to 10 times faster and richer experience in games and pro apps.
Refined features will help open PDF files four times faster, switch app two times faster and open app 1.5 times faster than Yosemite.
