Facebook's creative strategist logs off from the company to manage his own startup
Chris Gomersall, Facebook's creative strategist has resigned from Facebook to work on his own startup marketing company, Atomized, an omni-channel visual content calendar that he founded two years ago.
Tech Crunch reports Gomersall has been working on Atomized for two years while he is employed at Facebook. He was given permission to continue with his personal project developing a marketing software as he was not an engineer.
Gommersall however thought that if a founder cannot commit himself fully to the task, then there would be no one interested to work with him in a startup software. More so, he felt that he already achieved the peak of his career managing the creative side of the company for three years.
On his LinkedIn profile, Gomersall indicated he has been with Facebook as a creative strategist since 2012, working on high venture deals with well-known brands and organizations, and developing ideas for Facebook. He later joined Instagram in 2014.
Gomersall wants to address some inconveniences he noticed while working with marketers- it takes up a lot of time and effort to dig up creative assets for a campaign,
His startup company, Atomized, aims to solve that problem. The software is intended to reduce the pain points experienced by marketers while planning or launching a campaign. "It (the work of a marketer) is becoming atomized, with your content or your creative execution broken into thousands of little pieces," he told Mashable.
On Crunch Base, Atomized is listed as a software as a service (SaaS) and described as an omni-channel visual content calendar. It is designed for marketers to organize their campaigns easily from various forms of media- print, TV, mobile and online. With Atomized, marketers can store and share content calendars using the cloud, track and manage version control, and eliminates voluminous emails among team members.
Atomized was founded in 2013 and had seeded $1.5 million in two rounds.
