Batman saves the day for Warner Bros: Q2 game revenue 135% higher

Thanks to Batman: Arkham City and Mortal Kombat X as game revenues for Warner Bros. goes up by 135% in the year's second quarter.  These two video games provided huge returns for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

Parent company Time Warner reported the division's revenue for the second quarter is at $727 million, 135% higher from a year ago.  Warner Bros. is the movie studio and its game division reaped revenue of $3.3 billion which is 15% higher from a year ago.  Its operating income was $344 million, a growth of 46%.

During the second quarter, Time Warner revenue reached $7.3 billion, up by 8% with an operating income of $1.9 billion which is 15% higher.  Warner's game business is noticeably one of its fastest growing divisions that will surely make games more important in the media empire.

Regardless of the complaints received for Batman: Arkham City as "the worst PC version of a game", Warner Bros. still managed to get a profitable Q2 without their revenue being affected negatively.

During the earnings release, Time Warner Inc. chairman and CEO Jeff Bewkes said that the games business of Warner Bros. shines as well with the releases of Batman: Arkham Knight together with Mortal Kombat X which helped a lot to make it the top video game publisher in the first half of the year.

However, there is no indication yet that the PC version will get fixed for a comeback to digital store shelves.  Last June 24, Steam sales for Batman: Arkham Knight was suspended, forcing Warner Bros. to issue a full refund to gamers who were dissatisfied with the game's performance.

The company said that it is their top priority to address the PC version issues and believed that a number of fixes had been identified that affected the PC gamers.

Although no specific date was given for the PC version repair, Warner Bros. is hopeful that after conducting some test fixing, they will come up with a better idea on the status of their progress.

According to The NPD Group, the list of this year's best-selling games is very surprising.  The rankings were taken from January to the end of June sales figures.  Some of the games published by Warner Bros. made it to the best-selling games of the first half of 2015 including Mortal Kombat X, Batman: Arkham Knight and Dying Light.
