Starbucks to serve alcohol at 70 locations; Booze business will be in 2,000 locations within 5 years
Yes, you read the headline right. It looks like Starbucks could use bartenders instead of baristas as it is set to add alcohol to its menu in 70 branches all over the US.
Another five more Starbucks locations in the nation this week will be offering beer and wine. The coffee company will add booze in its menu in places such as New York, Miami, Denver, northern California, and Orlando. Starbucks made the announcement Wednesday at Williamburg, which is a place in Brooklyne where there are plenty of bars. Alcohol in coffee isn't really a new thing for the company; Starbucks has actually been serving alcohol at one of its locations in New York.
Starbucks is offering alcohol in a location where booze is already a successful product. It will add a sixth coffee shop in Denver, a fifth in Orlando, a second in Miami, and a ninth in northern California. This program is called, the "evening program" and it has been under testing stages since 2010.
The giant coffee business aims to have its alcohol business in 2,000 of its 12,000 coffee shops all over the US ion the next five years.
Its online menu includes a selection of wine such as the Malbec, pinot gris, pinot noir, and Prosecco. You can also get a taste of their selection of "curated craft beers." You simply have to ask your barista about it. You can enjoy the drinks alongside small plates like truffle mac & cheese, artichoke & goat cheese flatbread, chicken skewers, meatballs with tomato basil sauce, cheese plate, bacon-wrapped dates, and truffle popcorn.
The next time you head to one of the Starbucks chains and you need something stronger than coffee, maybe you might find a bit of alcohol in your system more useful. Go ahead and order one of their alcohol menus.
