Dominant Apple gets a big bite in the market share pie

Apple once again proved to be the leader in the getting the highest sales for smartphones in the U.S. market. comScore, a digital media analytics, reported that Apple's iPhone continue to leave its competitors behind having a 44.2% of all American smartphone users with an increase of 1.1% from 43.1% it held in April of this year.

Samsung is way behind with 27.3% while other smartphone companies such as LG with 8.7%, Motorola 4.9% and HTC 3.5%.

Even Apple leads by devices, the Android operating system still ranks the first with 51.4% of U.S. smartphone users on the platform. This is based on the market share on the July 2015 data. iOS has 44.2%, Windows Phone 2.9%, BlackBerry 1.3% and Symbian 0.1%.

Facebook has been ranked as the most popular smartphone app in the U.S. with a reach of 73.3%, based on comScore's Mobile Metrix. Included in the top ten apps are Facebook Messenger, YouTube, Google Search, Google Play, Google Maps, Pandora Radio, Gmail, Instagram and Yahoo Stocks.

Come next week, Apple is going to reveal its next iPhone which is to be called iPhone 6S that will look exactly like the model of last year. However, the appearance of that phone was not that all different from Apple's first smartphone that was introduces eight years ago.

"What can they pull out of the iPhone bag to get people excited?" asked Kantar Worldpanel analyst Carolina Milanesi. "That's what the big question is."

The probable famous feature of this year's iPhone 6S is going to be the Force Touch technology which is used in Apple Watch, a pressure-sensitive display responding to different types of touches. Some hearsay said that Apple may tweak the device's display and materials and make slight changes on the design to incorporate a bigger battery.

The next iPhone is not expected to look much different from the current iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

By next week, other Apple products will be the real attention-getters as new iPads will be introduced along with the updated Apple TV and the launching of iOS 9 and Mac OS X El Capitan which was first shown in June.
