Twitter's Periscope adds landscape mode, broadcast options and Facebook sharing
Periscope, the popular Twitter live-streaming app, updates its version with new features including landscape mode, private broadcast options and Facebook sharing.
Twitter's Periscope now supports the landscape mode. As read on Firstpost, this is to address feedbacks as users get stuck viewing contents sideways. Added to that, private broadcast now includes an option on who you want to share videos with. It can also be shared on Facebook with IOS devices.
When Periscope was initially launched, it only supports portrait broadcast. The company said the community is requesting for the landscape feature. According to its blog post on Medium, "As much as we're fans of portrait video, we know that there are times where the scene you're trying to capture is best expressed in landscape."
Although viewers could still broadcast in portrait mode, they can slant their devices to fit with the subject. Whichever, there's no need to tilt their heads to watch videos. The company assured that the landscape mode is accessible on Android and IOS.
In line with that, the update improves the structure of the sharing option. Users could now see who shared content with them. It is indicated under the title of the video.
Also, Periscope gives importance to private sharing. This time, they can choose only the people whom they wanted to share their content. Just select from the list of mutual followers.
But most notably, the highlight of the update is its Facebook sharing support. With iOS, they could post the broadcast link and replay it on Facebook. Log in to Facebook on devices run by iOS, open the Periscope, view a broadcast and share it on Facebook.
Just the same, International Business Times reported Meerkat, Periscope's close competitor, had initially adapted Facebook sharing last May. The two are vying to be the top live streaming service.
In any case, the update makes it easier to broadcast in the video streaming app. It would even attract more viewers other than Periscope followers and Twitter.
