For months, it has been speculated what BlackBerry's pioneer Android phone would look like. Now they finally made it official with their Priv and the formerly Research in Motion or RIM company has been keeping at it with such fervor it's worth commendation. Exactly how does it compare to the mighty iPhone?

During a quarterly meeting, Tech Radar reports that John Chen, the company's CEO, went on record and said "I am confirming our plans to launch Priv, an Android device named after BlackBerry's heritage and core mission of protecting our customers' privacy. Priv combines the best of BlackBerry security and productivity with the expansive mobile application ecosystem available on the Android platform."

It should not be forgotten that iPhone vs. BlackBerry was once the hottest battle in the heavyweight category before it became iPhone vs. Galaxy. In 2007, people were on the rave whether they'd switch to the iPhone or keep their QWERTY-sexy BlackBerry's.

After a series of limited success smartphones, BlackBerry's much-awaited Android phone comes with a Qualcomm SoC called the Snapdragon 808. According to Fudzilla, the Priv also has a 3GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage, but like every other phone in the market these days can be expandable with an SD card as well. The display is a 5.4" 2560x1440 that will help users get super crisp text and graphics experience. It also comes with cameras that could make the company proud, such as the 18MP back camera that is capable of recording a 4K quality video and the front camera that shoots at a 5MP resolution.

Believe it or not, the specs of the Priv compare evenly with the specs of the latest iPhone 6S series. According to Information Week, Priv's screen size comes very close to the actual screen size of the iPhone 6s Plus and with comparable resolution as well. Its storage space, however, is only comparable to the first models of the iPhone, but it can still be more than adequate.

Although iPhone can boast of its 3D Touch, Priv can boast of its legendary hardware keyboard. For fifteen years, it has helped bankers or businessmen earn or lose trillions of dollars. With the Priv the keyboard slides from underneath the screen, which could be bulky and heavy at the same time. However, Blackberry is known for its hardware design that stands the test of time. Moreover, Chen says that Priv is packed with security and privacy features, something that iPhone has failed to succeed on. This would appeal to consumers who are very conservative on keeping personal information personal.
