Ubisoft acquires Ivory Tower, the French developer of The Crew
The worldwide games developer, Ubisoft, finally acquires Ivory Tower, the French maker of The Crew racing game.
After years of collaboration with Ubisoft driving experts, Reflections, Ivory Tower is now part of the Ubisoft. The gaming developer confirmed the acquisition in the blog.
Ahmed Boukhelifa, Ivory Tower managing director, said in the statement, "We've always enjoyed a very positive relationship with Ubisoft. Working together on The Crew, and celebrating its success, made us both understand that we have huge potential in continuing to work together in the future."
Ivory Tower, the developer team located in Lyon, France, has been an expert in driving genre which will benefit Ubisoft. Equally, Boukhelifa said his team will also benefit from Ubisoft's support, tools, facilities and technology.
As of now, Ivory Tower has 100 members. It was founded in 2007 by Ahmed Boukhefila, Emmanuel Oualid and Stephane Beley. Boukhefila formerly worked with Eden Games and has known to be a part of V-Rally series and Test Drive Unlimited. It led him to create The Crew which is the company's debut game. The Crew had drawn 3 million players globally since it was released.
In line with that, IGN reported Boukhelifa's team is now working out on the game's expansion, The Crew: Wild Run. It will be released in November 17 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
Ahead of that, a beta version could be accessed on PC this month. The Sixth Axis divulged the closed beta version will be available from October 15th to 19th. Those who will get the access will also have the privilege of all the PvE and PvP events. It would unlock and leverage items for vehicles.
The Crew has taken gamers into a reckless, open-world challenges and driving. Through the Ubisoft's acquisition, expect more tools and blazing action in the online race track.
