Oktoberfest 2015 Affected by the Stream of Migrants in Germany, Revelers and Beer Consumption Decreased

The world's largest beer festival and funfair, the Oktoberfest in Germany has a decrease number of revelers this year. As a stream of Migrants and refugees arriving at the country of Germany, the government imposed border controls. However, as it took effect, the Annual event organizers had noticed the sudden drop of attendees this year.

The Breidbart reported, the annual 182nd Oktoberfest head organizer, Josef Schmid has described that the revelers of the annual event has surprisingly decrease, from 5.9 million to 400,000. Schmid also thought that the chilly and dampish weather might also be one contributing factors to the reclining number of attendees. However, the major reason he thought he was sure of was the recent imposed border checks. Since it took effect, there is a tight security for the outside visitors from the neighboring countries.

Since Chancellor Angela Merkel had opened an asylum for the Syrian migrants, Germany had enforced border control in order to determine the number of migrants coming in the country. According to the DW, while there's a sudden decreased on revelers, the amount of beers was also reduced from 7.7 million liters last year to 7.3 million liters.

The Time reported, while this year annual Oktoberfest party still has a great number of reveler attendees, added with the out flowing number of migrants entering the country, the Federal Police representative, Simon Hegewald had said it is really challenging for them. He explains, "It's not that the two groups would fight, but for us, it's a mass transport problem, "It might be manageable but we would need a lot more police officers,", Hegewald added.

In spite of the low record of revelers today, the Mayor of Munich still considers it as successful. Josef Schmid said on Sunday, "Four hundred thousand fewer visitors - but it's still a high-level Oktoberfest,".
