Singapore Airline Launch A350-900 Ultra-Long Range For Nonstop Flight to US

Singapore Airlines launched their latest Ultra-Long Range, the newer version of their A350-900. The new carrier will provide non-stop flights to the US with the capability to fly up in the sky for 19 hours. Aside from their existing firm orders for 63 A350-900s, the Singapore's flag carrier added seven new A350-900ULR option.

According to the AIN, the A350-900ULR was enhanced and designed for long hours of flights to US. The fuel capacity and the maximum takeoff weight were also increased and added more improvements on some of the aerodynamics of the new aircraft. The operators of the standard A350 can still adjust to the ULR configuration with the retrofit program. The fuel has now the higher capacity, from 142,000 liters to 165,000 liters. The new model can also cover a distance of 8,700 nautical miles from Singapore to New York City.

Goh Choon,the Singapore Airlines' CEO talked about their new model, "Our customers have been asking us to re-start non-stop Singapore-US flights and we are pleased that Airbus was able to offer the right aircraft to do so in a commercially viable manner. This is another example of how we strive to meet and exceed our customers' expectations by remaining at the forefront of product and service innovation in our industry.

The president and the CEO of Airbus, Fabrice Brégier said they are excited working with the Singapore Airlines to re-launch its premium non-stop service to the US. "The A350 is the perfect, flexible platform for such operations, offering unrivalled operating economics for the very longest routes. And the wider and quieter cabin will provide the perfect environment for passengers to enjoy the world-famous Singapore Airlines in-flight product."

The Singapore Airline will receive the first of 63 A350s next year in January. They are also planning to continue their new flight project, the Changi-Los Angeles flight in 2018 and still considering adding another nonstop US destinations.
