What can be expected on Google Play Store's newest update?
Google Play will get a major upgrade soon according to a teaser released by a Googler, Kirill Grouchnikov. Based on the teaser, the apps store will feature a better categorization method and will become a lot more user-friendly as Google is planning to cope with the increasing number of new users using the apps store.
Although Google has not released any news regarding the update, Kiril Grouchnikov who is also a user interface engineer at Google published a few screenshots and an animation of the latest update through his Google+ account according to Tech Times. Among the most noticeable changes in the Google Play is that it now shows the latest Google logo.
Besides that, Android Authority reported that Google Play will also receive a new splash screen similar likes other latest apps by Google and the landing page has received new animation and design making it looks more cheerful.
TechCrunch reported that all the apps are now categorized under two main categories which are "Apps & Games" and "Entertainment". The "Entertainment" section includes all movies, TV shows and ebook that is either uploaded by a provider or by Google itself.
Besides new categories, the apps also feature new category; "Highlight". In this category, all the best content uploaded will be available there. Besides that, the old Top games and apps are still available and can be accessed via a quick access key on top of the apps with an addition of Family category which contains contents that are deemed as being kid-friendly.
All the apps can be accessed easily with just a tap of a button and users can navigate the apps store by either scrolling down and even sideway. This means that the storefront is now supporting the latest right-to-left language as well. However, considering that the latest update is still in the development process, users can expect more changes to be made before the updated Google Play is available for download.
Previously Google has increased the app size limit for developers enabling them to create and upload an app to the Play Store with size up to 100 MB. The move is accepted well among developers as the new technology on a smartphone has enabled users to play and use apps with higher size without any crash or lagging.
Google spokesperson decline to comment further on when users can expect the new upgrade. However, news circulated that the rollout will be available based on users country of residence where some countries might get the update sooner than others.
