US Airways Retires in the Aviation History as it Merge with American Airlines
United States' major American airline, US Airways took its final flight last Friday night with Flight 1939. Along with its last aviation, the airline brand disappeared overnight. The America's storied airline's retirement in the aviation history is part of completion merger with American Airlines.
The USA Today reported, the red-eye flight of US Airway's carrier, Flight 1939 from its route, San Francisco to Philadelphia was considered as its final flight under the airline brand. The next flights will be now under the American Airlines as the two flag carrier brands will transition into one reservation system. Starting last Saturday, the US Airway brand will no longer exists in the aviation history.
The unification of the two airlines will also use one online site for the entire operation. Since it took effect, travelers will now begin to visit on American Airline's official online site, including its mobile or at American kiosks and ticket counters at the airport, according to the AZ Central. The US Airways signage located at the Sky Harbor and even the main office buildings and flight center is now renamed as American Airlines.
The major American flag carrier has been getting all the preparations to done for the smooth unification since its $11 billion merger with US Airways way back in 2013, the Dallas News reported. The Chief information officer of the AA, Maya Leibman said, "We are completely dedicated to getting this right, we have really tested the heck out of everything."
The Senior Vice President of Customer Experience Kerry Philipovitch also said, "The Number 1 goal of the cutover is to make sure the customer experience is as seamless as possible.'' They also started to communicate with their customers encouraging them to use the American mobile app for flight reservations and for introducing their new policies.
