Killington Resort has opened its gate to all ski fanatics on Monday. Oct. 19. The first in the North America to open in public this season, the resort has two trails for skiing. Express Card and Season pass holders were able to ski and snowboard as early as Sunday. Oct.18.

Killington Resort has opened two lifts totaling to nearly 600 vertical feet. There is also a terrain that has six features, boxes and multiple rails. The early opening was possible because of the cold season. Cold weather is perfect for snow making providing a natural base for skiing with an average of 6 to 12 inches, USA Today reports.

"It's always the goal to open before Halloween," says Killington spokesperson, Michael Joseph. Sarah Wojcik, Director of Public Affairs for the Ski Areas Association expressed her excitement that Killington Resort was the first to open in North America. "I think there's a pent up demand after a wonderful ski season last year," she said.

Express card holders were charged with $25 on the opening day while children ages 6 and lower had Kids Ski free ticket when they arrived at the venue with a season pass holder. Apart from the said passes, no other tickets, passes, vouchers and other forms of discounts were allowed on Sunday, Vermont Biz reports.
