Knit in Style at Mohonk Mountain House: National historic gateway pairs up with The Yarn Company

The collaboration of Mohonk Mountain House and The Yarn Company bring you another wonderful weekend of learning, knitting, and making friends in a historic setting. It features a variety of workshops led by knitting experts, and keynote addresses by Trisha Malcolm of Vogue Knitting and Norah Gaughan, knitwear designer and author of Knitting Nature.

The Yarn company announces a weekend of knitting at the Mohonk Mountain House, a national historic getaway, which is only 90 miles north of NYC that Condé Nast Traveler recently named the #1 spa in the United States, as well as one of the World's Best Places to Stay.

Mohonk also won a Conde Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Award as one of the top 20 U.S. resorts as well as many other awards, including all inclusive family vacation awards. Conde Nast Traveler even described the site "a spectacular gem nestled in a pristine mountain setting" in the Hudson Valley. It is a "wonderful, historic resort" just 90 miles north of New York City.

Knit in Style is the historic House's first knitting and crochet themed weekend. It is organized by The Yarn Company. They will lead the program, giving participants the opportunity to learn, knit, as well as meet new friends. The weekend, starting from March 30 through April 1, will conduct classes and technique workshops in knitting and crocheting, as well as a presentation on the yarn, as mentioned in The Yarn Company official website.

In fact, four years ago, Tavy and Assaf Ronen, sibling owners of the Yarn Company, an Upper West Side shop, participated the world-wide event of knitting tourism as they decided to organize such annual retreat. The program of the Yarn Company attributed classes, lectures and displays of artisanal yarns for sale, namely Flower Child and Atomic Skunk, as reported by the New York Times.

The knitters can be easily spotted among Mohonk's many guests as they were the people wearing lacy shawls or bulky sweaters, with knitting materials. Their age ranges from 20s to 80s, with mostly in their 50s and 60s. The conversations actually revealed that most of them were health care professionals.

The knitting and crochet lessons also create functional, fun artwork and fashion-inspired garments, from iPod covers to elegant sweaters to crocheted jewelry. Knit in Style also engages in all skill levels of knitters, ranging from novices to veteran knitters.

The rates arranged by Mohonk include three delicious meals a day and all workshop fees for fiber enthusiasts. The Yarn Company, along with White Barn Sheep and Wool, also promises to bring its finest selection of exciting and exclusive yarn, fiber, needles, books, knitting bags, and more this year and for the coming years.

Meanwhile, a lot of people are taking in the knitting lessons offered by the partnership of the Mohonk Mountain House and The Yarn Company. Moreover, the classes still require advanced registration for the participants since the class sizes are only limited.
