Lufthansa airlines: German airline signed a deal with 'Book on Google' to purchase its tickets directly
Existing modern technology has enabled the travelers to book their flights within few minutes through Google and mobile apps. But this also results in bumping into the website after website, which is quite annoying to some. Different travel agencies are competing by introducing different ways of providing maximum convenience and comfort to their customers.
On Wednesday, keeping in account of its past low market record and jeopardized booking on its website, German airlines, Lufthansa, which also includes Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines and Swiss International Air Lines, introduced a new facility to the US travelers by signing a deal with Google Flights, "Book on Google,". Now US travelers don't have to waste time and pay extra charges by logging into LH.com. Instead, they can purchase or book tickets on Lufthansa directly through 'Book on Google' on the desktop or mobile applications.
As reported by CNN Money, Google flight displays a calendar and by choosing an appropriate date on it to travel, it provides a list of different travel agencies alongside its price range, starting from the cheapest flight. This has facilitated many businessmen and travelers, for whom mobility is essential.
Lufthansa Chief Commercial Officer Jens Bischof said in a statement, "The partnership with Google will facilitate online bookings particularly on mobile devices,"
He also extended his statement by adding that Lufthansa is the first legacy carrier worldwide to sign such a deal with 'Book on Google', we will strengthen ticket sales in this channel," Lufthansa Group chief commercial officer Jens Bischof said in a statement. "This is an important step in realizing Lufthansa's new sales and distribution strategy, which strives to modernize existing booking processes as well as to develop new and alternative distribution channels."
Via this facility of booking Lufthansa tickets on Google flight, the purchase rate is anticipated to increase and to overcome the drastic decrease of its sales and reputation in previous months.
As stated by Reuters, in September Lufthansa made an introductory charge of 16 euro ($17.49) for flights not booked via its own website. It was met by extremely negative feedbacks and controversies from technology companies behind third-party booking systems and travel agents. Furthermore, Bischof has said that the goal of Lufthansa Group is to disrupt existing distribution channels and spur innovation. .
On Wednesday, other than the Google Flights announcement, it was also revealed by Lufthansa that German tour operator Bucher Reisen and German ticket consolidator Air ticket have introduced a direct connection with Lufthansa's reservation system. The airline said that a direct connect between Lufthansa and the travel agency chain Lufthansa City Center is also in the works.
