Carson Holdings LLC, Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers' joint venture has successfully recruited Bob Iger, Disney CEO as non-executive chairman in their relocation plan back to LA. 

According to Los Angeles Times, Chargers and Raiders appointed Disney Chairman and CEO Robert Iger to oversee their effort in building a $1.7 billion stadium in Carson, as they plan to relocate to Los Angeles. Carmen Policy, executive director of Carson Holdings said, "We now have the kind of leadership and expertise that should calm any concerns about any NFL teams going into L.A. and getting off on the right foot and pursuing the right course".

Bob Iger has a world-class reputation in the entertainment industry and appointing him will bring Carson Holdings a tremendous advantage. It is because Iger knows the LA market and the entertainment world very well. Under his helm, Disney acquired Pixar Studios, Marvel Entertainment and Lucasfilm. He established Disney as the owner of the most popular movie franchises in the world such as Iron Man, Thor, and Star Wars. 

Three NFL teams, Raiders, Rams and Chargers have a long connection with LA. Raiders left Los Angeles and relocated to Oakland in 1983 while Rams move to Missouri in 1994. Even Chargers was established in LA in 1960 but moved to San Diego a year later. Those teams are planning to go back to Los Angeles this year. San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders collaborated to build a $1.7 billion stadium in Carson, Los Angeles in February. While Rams is planning to build a new stadium in a former LA Lakers legendary home in Inglewood.

ESPN reported that Iger's appointment won't affect Iger's job as chairman and CEO of Disney, as the contract between the two allows Iger to recuse himself in situations of conflict. However, NFL must first approve the relocation of Chargers and Raiders to LA. Should NFL approve the relocation, Iger would hire the executive responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the stadium that would be built on a 168-acre plot of land. 

CBS Sport reported that Iger is expected to drive the overall vision of the stadium project for Chargers and Raiders. Iger will also have the opportunity to become a minority owner of Carson Holding once he has retired from Disney.

Having someone like Bob Iger in their side will truly benefit Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers to pursue their relocation plan to LA. Iger is the one who understands all entertainment aspects in LA since he manages so many successful movie franchises.
