Apple's iPad Pro offers professional digital arts experience
The iPad Pro, the first Apple's convertible tablet-laptop which is now available in Apple's online store, offers the combination of features and pricing that entice creative professional digital artists.
Apple's new giant 12.9 inch iPad goes on sale alongside the Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard. The iPad Pro runs with the new A9X chip, Apple's second 64bit chip with double the memory and storage performance. Apple claims the iPad Pro would run faster than 90% of portable PCs on graphically intensive tasks.
According to Forbes, Rob Liefeld, co-founder of Image Comics, creator of Deadpool and one of the most popular comic artists of the past 25 years, already uses an iPad to do layouts, color comps and color corrections as a part of his productions.
Liefeld said that iPad Pro's larger screen and more powerful processor may make it easier to work higher resolution files. The comic artist believes the new capabilities of the iPad Pro will allow him to integrate it further into his production process.
Other comic artist Dani Jones is also enthusiastic about the iPad Pro. The author and children book's illustrator has been using iPad for professional art. Dani jones thinks the Apple Pencil could be a real game changer on iPad. She hopes that the pencil will improve accuracy and open up more options for apps by making it easier for developers to include things like pressure sensitivity and tilt controls.
Comic and storyboard artist Robert Marzullo is also using the iPad as a sketching and painting platform. Marzullo said that the iPad Pro has the combination of price and features that could give both professional and amateur artists a lower priced entry point for creating digital works.
According to The Wall Street Journal, an illustrator and visual editor Mike Sudal tried to use iPad Pro to create an illustration. He said that it was more natural sketch and shade on the iPad Pro than on his Mac's Wacom tablet. He impressed by how the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil could imitate his art paper experience with lag free. But he complaint that the pen slid a little too smoothly on the screen and made tapping sounds when in use.
According to Digital Trends, the iPad Pro is available for three version: 32GB Wi-Fi only priced at $800, 128GB Wi-Fi only for $950, and 128GB 4G LTE for $1,080. The Apple Pencil will be available for $100, and the Smart Keyboard will be available for $170. New Smart Covers and Cases for the iPad Pro will be available for $60 and $80. The iPad Pro will be available in 40 countries by the end of November including the U.S., U.K., China, Japan, and Germany.
