Firefox may not be the most popular desktop browser now but it's pushing ahead to launch a version of its software in iOS devices soon. While its public release is nearly approaching, the company now starts recruiting potential beta testers who are eager to take a first look at the app before its debut in the App Store.
It was already noted a few years back that Mozilla has refused to launch a version of their browser to iOS until Apple allows them to use their own web engine on their platform. However, it seems like the Mozilla had a change of plans as they already announced an invitation on the on-going testing process of their web engine's iOS version.
Mozilla's recruitment might have not specified how many beta testers are needed, but it sure allows just about anyone to sign up for the beta test. All the potential testers need to do is answer a few simple questions about their devices and their knowledge about the operating system.
With only 9.5% user share in both desktop and mobile, Mozilla has ventured to expand their web browser to iOS. Unfortunately, their recent release of their new operating system, Firefox OS, has also not been able to pull up their steadily dropping market share.
Mozilla's Firefox offers more privacy compared to other web browsers. Its target market includes those who are increasingly concerned about their private data's accessibility, government spying programs and the like.
It is known that Mozilla has once topped the realm of web browsing in the desktop era when it successfully challenged Microsoft's Internet Explorer. However, as new browsers were gradually introduced, the company's market share started to drop. With the continuous decline of their market share, the company needed to undergo restructuring and at the same time, work on a larger marketing campaign of which Firefox for iOS was included.
