AdultFriendFinder Dating Site Hacked, Exposes Personal Data And Sexual Orientation Of Members

One of the largest and the most popular dating websites called AdultFriendFinder was hacked days ago in a report by Channel 4 News resulting to the personal information of the site's millions of users as well as their sexual orientation and preferences.

As per report of Channel 4, the hacking allegedly happened three days ago and it leaked highly sensitive sexual information that was uploaded on the internet. The hackers were able to expose if the members were straight, gay, looking for extramarital affairs and gave out the information about their email addresses, date of birth, postal codes and even the unique internet addresses of the members' computers.

The information was reportedly leaked by the hacker who goes by the name ROR [RG] and the data hacked were uploaded on a secretive forum. AdultFriendFinder reportedly has 63 million users in which seven million are British. The site is a self-proclaimed "thriving sex community" thus the nature of data being uploaded on the said website.

The data that was breached and leaked included the information of 3.9 million members of AdultFriendFinder. Some of these 3.9 million members include those who already asked the website to delete their accounts. The main purpose of the hacking was to hit the emails of the 3.9 million members with spam emails and to eventually blackmail the users of the site as it was reported that many of the addresses are from government and armed services personnel.

In a statement issued to BBC by FriendFinder Networks Inc., the owner of AdultFriendFinder, they said, "We cannot speculate further about this issue, but rest assured, we pledge to take the appropriate steps needed to protect our customers if they are affected." The company is said to be working with law enforcement such as Federal Bureau of Investigation and they have also launched a comprehensive investigation with third-party forensics expert.

Members of AdultFriendFinder are advised to change their passwords as soon as possible.
