An oblong-shaped device called pHin is now ready to check your pool's water condition using a smartphone application. It monitors water chemistry including the level of chlorine and the number of bacteria in the pool. Using this Bluetooth connected device, you will know if your pool is finally ready for a fun swimming experience this summer.
Swimming pool should be monitored from time to time before it can cause different skin diseases due to dirty water. pHin device will test the chemical present and all you need to do is drop this device to test everything in the water and you can just add a few amount of water-soluble packets which are included in the device for chemical solution. A smartphone application is also installed in your phone so you will receive the result whether the water is safe or not.
Unlike other chemicals use in pool maintenance, pHin only cost $149 for every three months subscription service. You can save a lot of amount from this device and it's easy to use with no installation needed.
Former Comcast worker, Justin Miller who is the co-founder of pHin, said that his experience in Comcast Xfinity Home made him realize of the very long and complex process of testing water samples for customer's pool and hot tub. So he tried to find a way to solve this concern and proceed in creating a better tool for pool system.
Miller came up with the idea while having a barbecue session with Mark Jane, who became his business partner for the project. They started working for the ConnectedYard startup and was able to get $200,00 from Tandem Capital. As a result, pHin was produced.
pHin will notify you if you have to add chemicals for your pool and you only need to drop the color-coded pods. Each color-coded chemicals will maintain the safety of water in your pool. It's easier now to check the temperature of the water, the PH level, amount of chlorine present and other water factors that can affect your health.
Currently pHin can be only ordered on its website but shipping will not be available until 2016. Miller is already planning together with some stores and hot tub manufacturer that can sell the product soon.
