Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is announcing a recall of its 85, 816 new 2015 Chrysler 200 sedans due to an impaired connections that could lead malfunction of its engines. The company said that the dealers will repair it for free.
A news from the Associated Press says that Fiat Chrysler is recalling 2015 Chrysler 200 models considering a faulty electrical connectors during its post-production validation tests. Around 77, 000 of this automobile were already sold in the U.S., 7115 in Canada, 848 in Mexico and 19 in other countries.
Cars.com detailed that the supplier have discovered defective electrical connectors which could stall the engine or move the gearshift to Neutral that could lead to car crashes. However, the management said the error doesn't involve its airbag functions.
Dealers will inspect and restore the connections for free. FCA hasn't announced schedules to notify its owners. For that matter, 2015 Chrysler 200 owners can call them at 800-853-1403.
As of the moment, no accidents have been listed yet.
Last month, the automaker had also issued a voluntary safety recall to the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration covering its 2013 and 2014 car models resulting in 1.4M vehicles, mentioned in Safer Car.gov.
As reported by Wired, it is when security researchers found out that a Jeep Cherokee could be hijacked. In a test, they were able take control of the vehicle through its entertainment system which is connected to the internet.
The report stated that hackers could access the vehicles' network, control and run its system through its internet connection.
FCA noted that by July 22, the port had been closed by the network provider to prevent the risk of remote hacking to car owners using the network. The software updates are available either by direct download or by installation of their dealers.
Fiat Automobiles is the largest carmaker in the Italy and seventh largest in the world.
