The latest member favorite hotels and resorts list features 30 of the top destinations based on SPG Ratings and Reviews and hotel survey feedback. For the year 2015, the most popular hotels and resorts' members can redeem their starpoints for free nights.

According to SPG's promos, the 2015 Member Favorites Hotels & Resorts List should be compared from the top SPG property list. Starwood Hotels and Resorts have seven levels of hotel categories for members to redeem their starpoints for free nights.

Starwood Hotels claim that the highest tier is a Category 7 property, which Starwood defines as  the best hotels and resorts offering excellent surroundings in some of the world's most spectacular destinations. A guest will be required for 30,000-35,000 starpoints for a free night stay at a Category 7 hotel. The hotel guest can redeem 4 nights and get the 5th night free, however, another option for a Category 7  hotel is Cash and Points that cost 15,000 points plus $275 per night.

Starwood's second highest tier is a Category 6 property, which is allegedly the most exclusive hotels and resorts.  They possess unique characteristics of its surroundings for an uncomparable travel experience. The hotel clients will be needing 20,000-25,000 starpoints for a free night for this category.  They can redeem 4 nights and get the 5th night free. Another alternative is Cash and Points, which will cost 10,000 points plus $180 per night.

Starwood's next category is a Category 5 property, which is considered as an elite assembly of hotels and resorts in the most exclusive destinations. The visitors will need 12,000-16,000 starpoints for a free night for a Category 5 hotel.  They have to stay for 4 nights and get the 5th night free.  Another option for client is to utilize Cash and Points, which will cost 5,000 Starpoints + $75 per night.

Starwood's fourth lowest category is a Category 4 property, which is known as the superior hotels and resorts in different sites. A hotel visitor will need 10,000 starpoints for a free night. The visitor can stay for 4 nights and get the 5th night free. That would mean that the visitor on a 5 night stay would be looking at 8,000 Starpoints per night. Another alternative is Cash and Points, which will cost 5,000 Starpoints + $75 per night.

Starwood's third lowest category is a Category 3 property, which is defined as full-service hotels and resorts in premium destinations and major cities globally. The hotel guests will be required 7,000 starpoints for a free night for a Category 3 hotel. Moreover, they can redeem 4 nights and get the 5th night free with 5,600 starpoints per night. Another choice to take is Cash and Points, which will cost 3,500 Starpoints + $55 per night.

Starwood's second lowest category is a Category 2 property, which is composed of full-service hotels and resorts in destinations throughout the world. The hotel client will have to gain 3,000 starpoints for a free weekend night and 4,000 Starpoints for a free night during the week at a Category 2 hotel. And for the lowest category which is Category 1 property,  these are mid-priced, full-service hotels and resorts.  2,000 starpoints are required for a free weekend night and 3,000 starpoints for a free night during the week at a Category 1 hotel.
