Aer Lingus revamps their loyalty program, Airlines promise bigger opportunity to spend and redeem points with other airlines

A lot of clients claim that the most interesting part of the IAG takeover is that Aer Lingus will be joining oneworld and oneworld transatlantic joint venture. The airline is also allegedly making it possible  for customers to earn and redeem American AAdvantage and other oneworld miles on Aer Lingus.

Aer Lingus further enhances connectivity options in the USA, Canada and the UK, through its airline partners: Aer Aran, JetBlue Airways and United Airlines. It is now easier than ever to connect to continental US destinations in the UK, Europe and Ireland via JFK New York, Boston or Chicago. 

Aer Lingus also offers the Gold Circle Club for frequent flyers that entitles members to earn and spend frequent flyer points on Aer lingus flights and partner member airline flights. Members can also utilize their points earned on a range of quality services provided by our program partners. By having UsingMiles, a traveler can keep track of earned flyer points, use these points before they expire, and even maximize the spending of these points with features like the award travel search and bonus deals that help you earn more points

The airline company is also planning to make it promising for customers to earn and redeem British Airways Avios for travel on Aer Lingus for a long time, though soon it will be possible to earn and redeem American AAdvantage and other oneworld miles on Aer Lingus as well, which excites frequent travelers.

However, the downside of this program is that Aer Lingus will most probably have the same fuel surcharges as other oneworld carriers. This purportedly means award tickets on them will get considerably more expensive if booked through British Airways. One of the things that gives Aer Lingus travel good value when redeeming British Airways Avios is that they have extremely low fuel surcharges.

But now, it looks like Aer Lingus will be refurbishing their loyalty program in the coming weeks, from "Gold Circle" to "Aer Club", as reported by the Irish Independent.  "We, independently, but supported by IAG, will be seeking to move beyond Gold Circle to a new programme which will be announced in the early part of next month.It will have the benefit of a currency which can be shared across a number of airlines and will also have enhanced benefits of recognition and reward and loyalty for members," Aer Lingus chief commercial officer Mike Rutter stated in the interview.

He also added, "It will include a bigger opportunity to spend and redeem points with other airlines but it will still absolutely be an Aer Lingus plan, with a proper Aer Lingus name and a sense of modernity."

For the meantime, Aer Lingus' program won't seemingly merge into Executive Club, but it sounds like the points may be possible for transfers between some airlines. And many clients claim that is sounds so similar to the British Airways and Iberia Avios program, where they can also transfer points between programs.
