Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Festival, also known as Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta brings fun, adventure and memories to each spectator every fall in New Mexico. This year, the nine-day festivity is happening on Oct. 3 to 11.
Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Festival starts each morning as dawn breaks in the Sandia Mountains during the Autumn season. Over 500 balloons are freed to the sky from the Balloon Fiesta Park on all weekend mornings and one day mid-week, according to Visital Buquerque.
The biggest balloon festival is loaded with activities, including AfterGlow Fireworks Show, Fiesta of Wheels Car show, Laser Light Show, Flying competition, Krispy Kreme Morning Glow, Flight of the Nations Mass Ascension and more, Balloon Fiesta reports. Music Fiesta is expected to fill up more visitors during the event with performances from Band Perry and Gloriana.
Another highlight of Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Festival is the 2015 Photo contest, which is sponsored by Canon. The competition runs until Oct. 31 with categories for the contest that include: Dawn patrol Photo Entry, Mass Ascension Photo Entry, Special Shape Rodeo Photo Entry, AfterGlow Fireworks Photo Entry and Balloon Glow Photo Entry.

Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Festival is a popular attraction and a well known event all over the world that started more than four decades ago. The celebration kicked off in 1972 when 13 balloons were launched from a shopping mall parking lot. Since then, it has developed into one of the world's largest balloon festivals and has achieved the label as the most photographed event of the year.
Tickets for Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Festival will be $8 for guest age 12 and above while 12 years old and lower have free admission when they are accompanied by an adult. Parking fee starts at $10 per car per session.
