First R2-D2 DreamLiner Plane Lands on Vancouver on Oct.18

All Nippon Airways (ANA), Japan's largest airline, unveiled its Boeing 787-9 first R2-D2 DreamLiner Planes, which are named as "R2-D2 ANA JET." On Sunday, Oct. 18, the first plane touched down in Vancouver Airport. From Haneda, Japan, the jet remained in Vancouver Airport for several hours before it flew again to Tokyo. The flight was part of the film's promotion, "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens."

The R2-D2 DreamLiner Planes were welcomed by fans dressed in the famed "Star Wars" costumes including Chewbacca, Darth Maul and Obi Wan Kenobi at the at Haneda airport. Dedicated fans arrived before the launch of the new planes and posed for pictures next to the "Star Wars" inspired designed planes, Daily Mail reports.

"Today the time has come to bring the ANA Star Wars project to life and we hope Star Wars fans across the world will be as excited about our R2-D2 ANA Jet as we are," said Hideki Kunugi, Senior Vice President of the Americas at ANA said during the plane's launching.

The Star War fans were able to witness R2-D2 DreamLiner Plane's fresh paint job in White and Blue stripes. The planes have two designs: One design features the popular character R2-D2 and new character, BB-8 on Boeing 767-300 while another design that only features BB-8 will be highlighting Boeing 777-300ER aircrafts, USA Today reports.

Apart from the exterior design, the interior of the R2-D2 DreamLiner Planes will be fully cutomized with "Star Wars" inspired characters engraved to its headrest covers, cups onboard and paper napkins.  The flights will also include all the six new Star Wars films on its in-flight entertainment on its international flights.

R2-D2 DreamLiner Planes are part of All Nippon Airways (ANA) five-year partnership with The Walt Disney Company in promoting "Star Wars" franchise. The upcoming "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" is set to hit the theaters in December.
