Expedia Inc Accepts $3.9 billion deal Acqusition for HomeAway

American Global Travel brand company, Expedia Inc. had accepted a $3.9 billion deal to acquire the online vacation rental giant HomeAway. The online travel company that owns several travel brands sites including Expedia.com, Hotels.com, Hotwire.com, Travelocity, Orbitz and more will be adding the newly acquired vacation rental to its travel booking brand subsidiaries.

The NY Times reported, on the closing of the cash and stock price announced on Wednesday, Expedia Inc take the deal to pay $3.9 billion, or $38.31 a share in cash and stock for HomeAway. It is 20 percent above the HomeAway's brands price at near.

Expedia chief executive, Dara Khosrowshahi said on a statement, "We have long had our eyes on the fast growing $100 billion alternative accommodations space and have been building on our partnership with HomeAway, a global leader in vacation rentals, for two years. Khosrowshahi also added bringing HomeAway into the Expedia family and adding its leading brands to their portfolio of the most trusted brands in travel is "a logical next step", the Seattle Times wrote.

Following the acquisition deal, the Austin, Texas-based vacation rental said it will replace their business model by midway through 2016 and will add a booking fee for consumers and will have additional charge for customers, according to Skift. HomeAway is differs from Airbnb as they charge fees to the hosts and not to the guests.

The leading vacation rental HomeAway also announce that their board of directors fully agreed the acquisition of Expedia Inc. The Belluvue-based company Expedia will also take over HomeAway's global brands such as VRBO, HomeAway.com, and VacationRentals in the United States, HomeAway.co.uk and OwnersDirect in the United Kingdom, HomeAway in Germany, Abritel.fr and Homelidays in France, HomeAway.es and Toprural.es in Spain, AlugueTemporada in Brazil, HomeAway.com.au and Stayz in Australia, and Bookabach in New Zealand, the Asia Pacific short-term rental site and travelmob.
