Following its launch on iOS two months earlier, Twitter's live-streaming application 'Periscope' has finally made it on Android. The newly released Android version of the app features an enhanced notification setting which is not yet available on its iOS version.

The android version of Periscope has pretty much the same features as its iOS application like saving live streams the user wants to watch later and the setting which allow users to broadcast privately. However, the newly released version follows some design settings from Google's operating system, specifically when it comes to notifications

Periscope in Android enables users to set their notification settings whether they want to receive one whenever they earn a new follower or when someone they follow begins live-streaming. It also offers a notification setting that lets a user be notified when a Periscope newbie uses its broadcast features for the first time. But that's not all, when one accidentally leaves the broadcast, a new "return to broadcast" link is now available for users to go back to the live stream they were watching earlier. 

The enhanced notification setting Periscope has in Android is unfortunately not yet available on its iOS version but they are expected to be included in the next iOS update soon.

It was noted that the Periscope application was first launched almost two months after Twitter acquired the Periscope application for a big amount last January. The live-streaming app's first ten days of run gained a million sign ups swiftly.  Shortly after Twitter's acquisition of Periscope, Meerkat, another live streaming application, debuted on iOS. It has been directly competing with Persicope since then.

Despite the early head start Meerkat had, the Twitter-acquired live streaming app Persicope still had the advantage with the social network's user base and brand identity. According to Mashable, Meerkat ranked 161^st on iOS and 75th on Android for the most downloaded application in the social networking category whereas second mover Periscope has already snagged the 20^th place for iOS.

Since it has just made its first introduction on Android, its rank in the said category is still unknown. But there is a great chance that the demand for the live-streaming application will follow Periscope's iOS version.
