Pinterest Reveals Mock-Up For Its "Buy Button": Button Set To Allow Users Purchase Multiple Products All At Once

Pinterest's head of partnerships, Tim Kendall, presented the detailed mock-ups of the bookmarking site's planned 'Buy Button' at today's MIT's Emtech Digital conference. The said action button will allow Pinterest users to buy multiple products in just once click.

For those people who are fond of pinning a lot of cool stuff on Pinterest but are already tired of not being able to purchase them all at once, the bookmarking site got good news for you as it is bound to feature a few utility buttons on the website soon.

During the Emtech Digital Conference, the social giant has revealed detailed mock-ups of how developers will be able to provide service extra data that will authorize Buy, Wish List, and other utility buttons inside Pinterest which has over 70 million active users now.

At the moment, the partners of Pinterest passed fragments of data like the price of the products shown on its Pins which the company hopes its users will repin. According to Kendall, its partners could drive more information into the API that will allow "pretty sophisticated experiences" like a Buy button for different kinds of products.

Right now, the bookmarking site does not offer the planned action buttons yet. Pinterest just basically allows its users to be redirected to an external website where they can buy the items. However, this only works on individual products and not on cases with multiple-products like that of a recipe. Usually, when users encounter such scenario, they still have to hunt the ingredients manually and add them to their cart which is quite time-consuming and not too mobile-friendly.

With Pinterest's proposed utility buttons, an integration with a third party apps like Instacart or FreshDirect can be done effectively. This will let users click a "Get Ingredients Delivered" Pinterest button that will redirect them on a shopping cart in the Instacart app or other sites that is already filled with the recipe's ingredients. Thus, the users can already buy the ingredients all at once in just one tap or click.

Though this utility buttons are just conceptual for now, Kendall hopes that this will be established soon as it will not only help Pinterest extend its service further to its users, but also contribute more sales to its future potential partners.
